METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING ELECTROPHORETIC DISPLAY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To decrease the number of manufacturing process for an electrophoretic display, to make control of the process conditions easy and to diversify a display model. SOLUTION: A photopolymerizable material for a first layer is applied on an auxiliary substrate having a buffer layer and a photopolymerization process is carried out. Processes required for an electrophoretic display are carried out on the first photopolymerizable material layer after polymerization. A photopolymerizable material for a second layer is applied on a substrate having a plurality of electrode patterns and exposed by using a mask to form a polymer wall in the photopolymerizable material or irradiated with UV rays in combination with a molding method to harden the photopolymerizable material to form a polymer wall. A hole formed by the polymer wall is filled with a mixture comprising charged pigment particles and a small amount of a photopolymerizable material. Then, the auxiliary substrate and the substrate are aligned and joined in a mask exposure polymerization process.
