<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for correctly detecting an abnormal shadow candidate in a simple way without anatomical inconsistency by using two or more images which indicate a same subject and are different in direction for viewing the subject, and to provide a program therefor. <P>SOLUTION: A detection control means 50 compares the numbers of fine calcified abnormal shadow candidates N<SB>ML</SB>and N<SB>CC</SB>which are detected by a fine calcified abnormal shadow candidate detecting means 10 from a side image P<SB>ML</SB>and a front image P<SB>CC</SB>of the same subject. Till the difference ΔN becomes not more than a prescribed reference value ΔN<SB>max</SB>, a threshold changing means 30 repeatedly changes the detection threshold values of the fine calcified abnormal shadow candidates with respect to at least one of the images P<SB>ML</SB>and P<SB>CC</SB>, so as to allow the difference ΔN of the detection result to come close to the prescribed reference value ΔN<SB>max</SB>. The fine calcified abnormal shadow candidate detecting means 10 also repeatedly detects the fine calcified abnormal shadow candidates, based on the changed detection threshold. Thus, each detection result when the detection result difference ΔN becomes not more than the prescribed reference value ΔN<SB>max</SB>is outputted as a final result. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
