<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance a feeling of operation by enhancing the efficiency of utilization of cache memory for storing image data, so as to shorten time until the display of an image. <P>SOLUTION: In the display of the compressed and stored image, when a decoded image is stored in the cache memory, the decoded image is displayed (S902-S903). When the decoded image is not stored in the cache memory, the compressed and stored image is decoded and displayed (S907 and S911); the time required to decode the image is measured (S906 and S908); and the decoded image is stored in the cache memory along with the time required to decode the image (S910).
