<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical waveguide element which reduces the loss of light when the light from a light emission part is introduced into a core layer, and provide its method. <P>SOLUTION: The optical waveguide module has: the light emission part 30; a substrate; a clad layer 20 formed on a substrate; a core layer 26 which is covered with the clad layer 20 and formed of a material having a higher refractive index than that of the clad layer and makes the light from the light emission part 30 incident from one end part and guides the incident light to the other end part; and a reflecting film 38 which is formed on the boundary surface between the core layer 20 and the core layer 26 in at least a portion of an area Ri where the light from the light emission part 30 is made incident. Here, a light emission surface of the light emission part 30 and the core layer 26 are arranged in parallel in the incidence area Ri so that the direction of the light emitted from the light emission part 30 is perpendicular to the guide direction of the core layer 26. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
