PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for processing an image which can correct a defect accurately by interpolating process reflecting them even if a complicated boundary or a pattern exists in the defective part and which can accelerate a processing speed by suppressing an amount of calculations. SOLUTION: The apparatus for processing the image includes a means for regulating the luminance of a defective pixel; a means for selecting a plurality of normal pixels from circumstances of an object pixel; a means for obtaining a difference of a pixel value from the object pixel after the luminance is regulated at each color component for the selected each normal pixel and calculating a factor becoming heavier, as the smaller the minimum value becomes as a common weighting factor of each color component for the each normal pixel by using the minimum value for the normal pixel of the difference of the respective color components; a means for calculating a weighting average value of each color component for the plurality of the normal pixels by using the calculated weighting factor; and a means for correcting the object pixel by using the weighting average value of the calculated each color component.
