PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high quality/high performance operation wire rope which is formed by wiring the groups of element wires 3 and then impregnating a lubricant into spaces among the element wires 3 and has both good low temperature characteristics and high lubricity, and to provide an operation apparatus using the wire rope. SOLUTION: This operation wire rope is characterized in that the lubricant comprises a mixture of a mineral oil or synthetic oil as a base oil, a composite soap thickener, and an evaporable diluent and can convert the phase from a liquidized flow state on impregnation to a soft state on use.
