PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a roofing method using longitudinal battens, which facilitates positive and quick roofing by inserting an insertion side of a second tile into a gap between a batten-side rear surface of a first tile and an upper surface of the first longitudinal batten, or by butting an insertion side of a stabilizing die against a side surface of the horizontal batten, and achieves the roofing with the tiles depending on the sense of butting by the human fingers. SOLUTION: The roofing method is carried out by arranging the longitudinal battens and transverse battens on roof boards along plotted dimensions, mounting a number of the first tiles along the longitudinal batten beginning from an eaves side to a ridge side, and then mounting a number of the second tiles adjacently to the first tiles. Each second tile is inserted into the gap between the batten-side rear surface of the first tile and the longitudinal batten, by using a cut surface formed along a side from the stabilizing die on a tail side of a rear surface to an insertion-side end face. Then an insertion side of the stabilizing die is attached to the longitudinal batten, and the cut surface is abutted on the longitudinal batten, followed by abutting the stabilizing die on the transverse batten, whereby the second tile is inserted and laid under the first tile by using the longitudinal and transverse battens.
