<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an easy-to-use medical filing device which facilitates the registration operation from recording media such as an MO disk and performs image inspection immediately. <P>SOLUTION: This device automatically detects insertion of the MO disk 14 into a drive 15, automatically recognizes the recording format of inspection data including images stored in the inserted MO disk 14, and determines whether the inspection data in the MO disk 14 is new or not by comparing what are extracted from it, for example a patient's ID and an inspection date, with those registered in a hard disk 10. This device registers any new inspection data automatically and makes it accessible to users under control. For example, when only one inspection data is recorded on the MO disk 14, it automatically displays the image data on the screen.
