<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an input coordinate detection system with a simple configuration by which an input coordinate is detected with high accuracy by using a light signal in a flat panel display. <P>SOLUTION: In the tip part 2 of an electronic pen 1, infrared rays emitted from an infrared ray light emitting element 3 emitting light by a touch input operation of the electronic pen 1 to the touch panel surface 7 of the flat panel display 8 are made incident on the peripheral surface of a conical reflector 6; and the peripheral surface, over the entire surface in the optical axis direction, is formed to a curved surface radiating incident the incident light toward a 360-degree angle region in parallel with the touch panel surface 7 of the display 8. Outgoing light radiated in parallel with the touch panel surface 7 is received with low power consumption and at high sensitivity by photo-detectors 10a, 10b arranged at the different positions of the side edge section of the display 8. Thus, a highly accurate arithmetic operation for the touch input position of the electronic pen 1 is performed by reducing power consumption on the basis of the photo-detecting signal of the photo-detectors 10a, 10b by a coordinate position detector 11. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
