PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical multiplexer/demultiplexer which is easy to manufacture and has good performance. SOLUTION: A pair of substrates 3A and 3B for optical signal path formation are adjacently arranged so that the end surfaces on their one-end sides are made to abut against each other. The substrates 3A and 3B form optical signal paths 4 (4A, 4B) extending from the substrate 3A to the other substrate 3B via the part where they abut against each other. Further, the substrate 3A is provide with another optical signal path 4 (4C) branching from the optical signal path 4 at the position of the abutting part. On the abutting end surface T of one side of the substrates 3A and 3B, a recessed part 10 is formed at the position of the formation area of the optical signal path 4. A filter 5 for optical multiplexing and demultiplexing is fitted in the recessed part 10. The filter 5 for optical multiplexing and demultiplexing is interposed between the substrates 3A and 3B.
