PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a map display control unit which reads a map that target map data indicates out of a map database according to a logotype on the input target map data and makes a display means display it. SOLUTION: A car navigation device as the map display control unit recognizes a plurality of logotypes position information of the plurality of logotypes on the target map data from the target map data inputted from a scanner (step 220), reads the position information, etc., of the logotypes out of a specified geographic range of the map database (step 230), and compares the position information of those logotypes in the map database with information regarding the logotypes on the target map data to displays the plurality of logotypes in the map database whose position relation matches the target map as candidates for an area that the target map data indicates on a display device 20 (steps 240 to 260).
