PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a robotic device having improved entertainingness by allowing a user to make instructions for controlling various operating states while enjoying, an operation control method of the device, and a recording medium in which a program for the operation control is recorded. SOLUTION: The robotic device has an image recognition part where an input image picked by an imaging part is input and a registered card image coinciding with a card included in the input image is taken by referring to a database in which the card image is registered, and a control part for controlling the expression of a motion, various settings, the transition of the operation mode or the like based on additional information corresponding to the registered card image recognized by the image recognition part. Each card has individually identifiable patterns written and has the corresponding additional information to serve as commands or the like for expressing various behaviors such as dancing and sitting.
