PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an agitation unit for improving the workability when fermenting work is performed. SOLUTION: The agitation unit 1 is provided with a self-traveling body 7 capable of reciprocating in a treatment tank 5 for fermenting organic waste and an agitation rotor 9 arranged in the self-traveling body 7 for agitating the organic waste to form a ridge. The self-traveling body 7 is provided with an auxiliary rotor 11 for leveling the height of the organic waste to a height to be agitated by the agitation rotor 9. Since the height of the organic waste is leveled by the auxiliary rotor 11 to the height to be agitated by the agitation rotor 9, even when the organic waste is thrown in the treatment tank 5 and piled up like a mountain, the organic waste can be agitated directly by the agitation rotor 9. As a result, it is not necessary to level the organic waste thrown by a dump truck 61 by a compact industrial machine or by hand and the workability is improved. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
