Imaging device has an illumination head with a number of light emitting elements corresponding to image pixels of illuminated imaged data, a measurement device for emitted light and a control device for controlling the driver state of each individual light emitting element based on the measured emitted light. The control device sums a quantity of light beams of the multiple rows of the light-emitting elements that can be scanned from the same position in the main scanning direction if an image is to be formed based on a summed result of a quantity of light beams. Independent claims are also included for two further imaging devices each with an illumination head.
