A report system comprises a gene which is not part of the natural genome encoding a product which is involved in the development of a directly monitorable phenotypic trait in a plant in response to the presence of an outer stimulus. Preferably the gene is involved in the production of a visible colour change in the plant and the stimulus is a pollutant. The system can also comprises a bioremediation system which can breakdown and remove the pollutant. Also described are plants comprising the report system and the use of the plants for the detection of an analyte and for bioremediation. |
