<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To select variables on which the data structure of whole variables is reflected. <P>SOLUTION: At first, processing target data X mentioned in a file or the like and a parameter(selected variable number q and main component number r) are inputted from an input part 110 (S40). Then, r pieces of specific vectors having high specific values are successively extracted by using the base deriving method of principle component analysis or discriminant analysis for the base derivation of the data X so that a base Y<SP>λ</SP>can be obtained (S42). Then, similarityλbetween the base Y and a normal orthogonal base X_ generated inside is calculated, and the combination X<SP>λ</SP>_ of variables corresponding to this is calculated (S44).
