PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a dry system image recording apparatus, in which the conveyance path length of a recording material is shortened to achieve shortening of processing time and miniaturization of the apparatus. SOLUTION: In the image recording apparatus 41, comprising a loading tray 43 containing a sheet-like recording material 3, an exposure section 49 in which an image is formed in the recording material 3, and a heat developing section 53 in which the imaged recording material 3 is heat-developed, the exposure section 49 is configured, such that exposure of the recording material 3 is performed in a state in which the recording material is contained/held in the loading tray 43.
