PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hole-transporting material excellent in a luminescent property, having high heat resistance, soluble in solvents and having a good film-forming property. SOLUTION: The ethynylsilane copolymer has a recurring unit A represented by formula (1a) and a recurring unit B represented by formula (1b) (wherein R<SB>1</SB>and R<SB>2</SB>are each independently an alkyl group or the like which may have a substituent group; n is an integer of 1-10; Ar<SP>1</SP>and Ar<SP>2</SP>are each independently 10-100C arylene group or the like which may have a substituent group) and has 500-100,000 weight-average molecular weight and 0.01-500 ratio (B/A) of the recurring unit B contained in the copolymer to the recurring unit A.
