PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for drawing an optical fiber, by which an abnormal part can be surely discarded. SOLUTION: In the method for drawing the optical fiber, at least one abnormal part in the glass outer diameter of a drawn optical fiber 11a, the glass inside of the optical fiber 11a, and the inside of a resin applied on the optical fiber 11a is detected, and then a marking part is formed by changing the outer diameter of the resin applied into a prescribed outer diameter over a predetermined interval on the basis of the detection of the abnormal part.
