PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner for a vehicle capable of being early started to establish a coolant temperature highly efficient for a vehicle travel driving source. SOLUTION: The air conditioner comprises a hot air circulation passage 19 for circulating air on the downstream side of a hot water type heat exchanger 14 to the upstream side of the hot water type heat exchanger 14, and an opening/closing means 22 of the hot air circulation passage for opening/closing the hot air circulation passage 19. The hot air circulation passage 19 is closed when the coolant temperature measured by a temperature measuring means for measuring the temperature of the coolant flowing into the vehicle travel driving source is higher than a predetermined temperature, or is opened when it is lower than the predetermined temperature.
