PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact video display device in which video is easily observed by a user. SOLUTION: The video display device is provided with a mounting member 11, a supporting member 12, a main body 13, a screen 14, desirably two light shielding shields 15 and several hinges 16. Prior to operation of the video display device, the light shielding shields 15 are closed and the supporting member 12 is put into a most contracted state so that the main surface of the main body 13 is stuck to the ceiling of a vehicle. When the user wishes to observe video, a rotary shaft 111 is rotated for an angleθ1. Then, the user extends the supporting member 12 for a length L1 and the shafts of the hinges 16 are rotated for an angleθ2.
