Certain embodiments of the present invention provide a system (100) and meth od (200) for software configurable electromagnetic tracking. Certain embodiment s of the system (100) include a transmitter (110) and/or a receiver (122, 124) fo r measuring a position in a coordinate system. The system (100) also includes tracker electronics (150) for determining position of the transmitter (110) and/or receiver (122, 124) using information from the transmitter (110) and/or receiver (122 , 124). The tracker electronics (150) are configurable for a plurality of tracking system architectures. The tracker electronics (150) may generate a processing schem e for a tracking system architecture. Additionally, the tracker electronics (150) ma y simultaneously support a plurality of tracking system architectures. The tracker electronics (150) may be modular, configurable tracker electronics. The tracker electronics (150) may use software to generate support for a plurality of tracking system architectures. |
