APPARATUS FOR AUTOMATIC CHANNEL SETTING UP OF DIGITAL BROADCASTING RECEIVER AND METHOD THEREOF

An apparatus and a method for automatically setting a channel of a digital broadcast receiver are provided to reduce time required for setting the channel by simultaneously tuning an analog signal and a digital signal, namely, an NTSC(National Television System Committee) signal and an ATSC(Advanced Television System Committee) signal, with two tuners included in the digital broadcast receiver and thereby searching the channel. The execution of an automatic channel setting function is requested(ST21). Channel tuning of an analog signal and a digital signal is performed in response to the request of automatic channel setting(ST22). It is checked whether a signal is detected at a predetermined channel by the channel tuning(ST23). A channel where the signal is detected is stored in a channel map(ST24).
