SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR BROADCASTING SERVICE FOR TRICK PLAY BASED ON CONTENTS

A system and a method for servicing a broadcast for a contents-based trick play are provided to make a PVR(Personal Video Recorder) system supply an improved service of received and stored broadcast program to a user by enabling a broadcast station to produce information divided into scenes and then transmit it to the PVR system in real time or non-real time. A broadcast information provider produces scene information of each program and then transmits the scene information with a broadcast signal. A video display unit stores broadcast information transmitted from the broadcast information provider and then reproduces a corresponding broadcast signal when it receives a reproduction instruction of a recorded program from a user. When the video display unit receives a trick play request instruction during the reproduction of the broadcast signal, it extracts scene information from the stored broadcast information at a point of time the broadcast signal is reproduced and thereby performs a trick play by each scene.
