This invention relates to a process and device for at least preventing complete functioning of a taximeter or chronotachograph in the event of fraud at the level of the output wires of the electronic sensor. The device comprises an electronic device placed in an impregnable envelope, which tests at least one of the internal characteristics of the active dipole present between these output wires and/or at least one of the characteristics of the signal present at its terminals, which compares this or these characteristics with one or several reference values, and which at least triggers off an electronic anti-fraud action of the taximeter or chronotachograph in the event of non-conformity with this or these reference values.
