A display device embodying DPMS(Display Power Management Signaling) for vehicle is provided to reduce the loss of power by performing a DPMS operation and automatically controlling the power of the display device in an unnecessary operation. A chroma unit(1) receives an image signal and horizontal and vertical synchronous signals outputted from a video card or an A/D converter, converts the image signal to be suitable for resolution, and outputs the converted image signal to a display panel(11). A DPMS circuit unit(2) receives only the horizontal and vertical synchronous signals outputted from the video card or the A/D converter, and outputs a DPMS control signal when the synchronous signals are maintained as a frequency with a uniform value or less during a uniform time. A microcomputer(3) compares the synchronous signals of the chroma unit with the output signal of the DPMS circuit. If the synchronous signals of the chroma unit are identical to the output signal of the DPMS circuit, the microcomputer generates a power control signal. A power control unit(4) blocks or reduces power supplied to the display panel according to the power control signal of the microcomputer.
