A scroll compressor is provided to lift an orbiting scroll to a fixed scroll for preventing damage or wear of a thrust surface of a main frame by friction between the surface and the orbiting scroll in the close contact during the rotation of the orbiting scroll. A scroll compressor includes a driving motor fixed in a case, and a driving shaft(3) driven to rotate by the driving motor. An orbiting scroll(7) and a fixed scroll(8) carry out rotating motion in an orbiting lap(7a) and a fixed lap(8a) by the rotation of the driving shaft, compressing inhaled refrigerant. An Oldham ring(16) prevents the orbiting scroll from revolving but makes the orbiting scroll rotate in the fixed scroll. Upper and lower chambers(17,19) are formed at upper and lower parts of the Oldham ring for lifting the Oldham ring and the orbiting scroll by a discharge pressure of refrigerant and intermediate pressure, thereby making the orbiting scroll closely contact the fixed scroll. A main frame(5) supports the scrolls.
