FUEL VAPOR VENT VALVE AND METHOD OF ATTACHING SAME TO A TANK

A method for mounting a float operation-type vapor vent valve and a combined body of the float operation-type vapor vent valve and a fuel tank are provided to prevent relative rotation of a float to a valve body during spin welding. A method for mounting a float operation-type vapor vent valve comprises a step of forming a valve body(12) with a flange(18) and a float chamber(28), situating a float in the float chamber, and forming a vent outlet(24) communicating with the float chamber and having a valve seat(26); a step of situating a valve member to move together with the float and closing the vent outlet by moving the float and seating the valve member on the valve seat; a step of forming cooperating surfaces to the float chamber and the float and preventing relative rotation between the cooperating surfaces by slidably combining the cooperating surfaces; a step of inserting a part of the valve body in a tank through an access opening; and a step of executing spin of welding the flange to the tank.
