A mobile terminal having an electronic compass module and a method for playing mobile games by using the electronic compass module are provided to easily control the motion of a user-controlled character in up/down and left/right directions according to movement of a mobile terminal. An X-axis magnetic sensor(312) and a Y-axis magnetic sensor(314) generate an X-axis sensor output signal and a Y-axis sensor output signal according to a change in an X-axis component and a Y-axis component of an external earth magnetic field. An ADC(Analog Digital Converter)(322) receives the X-axis sensor output signal and/or the Y-axis sensor output signal and converts them/it into a digital signal. A correction processor(330) receives the digital signal from the ADC(322), corrects the digital signal as necessary, and transfers the corrected digital signal to a microprocessor(220). |
