The invention relates to a method for monitoring a data transmission between at least two subscribers of a network. According to this method: at least one transmitter transmits data provided in the form of messages (SF, FF, CF) to at least one receiver; a data transmission ensues via at least one message (SF), and; the receiver then transmits at least one flow control block (FC) to the transmitter if the data of a data transmission are separately transmitted in a first message (FF) and in at least one following message (CF). The inventive method is characterized in that an additional flow control block (FCB) is transmitted from the receiver to the transmitter after the last message (SF, LCF) of a data transmission.
