PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device for suppressing the quality of a display image from deteriorating even in a state where a liquid crystal display panel has an in-surface temperature distribution. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device, which displays an image by using the liquid crystal display panel 4, includes temperature sensors 16a to 16d for detecting temperatures in a plurality of areas A to D of the liquid crystal display panel 4, a control CPU 17 which generates a switching control signal by calculating an average value of detected temperature data (a) to (d) of the plurality of areas A to D of the liquid crystal display panel, and an emphasis conversion part 22 which generates an emphasis conversion signal compensating an optical response characteristic of the liquid crystal display panel 4 by performing emphasis conversion of an input image signal according to a combination of the switching control signal generated by the control CPU 17 and gradation transition of the input image signal before and after one vertical display period.
