PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple blood compatibility evaluating method using whole blood reflecting an in vitro result, capable of obtaining a result reduced in experimental error with good reproducibility and also reflecting blood properties peculiar to an adapted patient. SOLUTION: In the blood compatibility evaluating method of a medical material, the medical material is preliminarily coated with at least one of the blood components, of which the concentration is 1.3 times or above that of one of blood components in blood of a healthy person, in blood of the patient to which the medical material is adapted. Thereafter, heparin is mixed with blood used in evaluation in a concentration of 1-100 U/ml and this heparin mixed blood is brought into contact with the medical material and the amount or form of the blood component bonded to the surface of the medical material is observed or determinated.
