<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance pedestrian's safety, the sense of security, etc., and to reduce useless power consumption and an adverse affect to the circumference by performing suitable lighting according to a pedestrian's attribute etc. <P>SOLUTION: This lighting system for a pedestrian is provided with illuminating lamps 1a-1d, 2a-2d, readers 5a-5c and a control part 6. The readers 5a-5c read information from a information medium 4 carried by a prescribed pedestrian. Information indicating the attribute of the pedestrian is written in the information medium 4, and the information can be read remotely.
