PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a microscopic image capturing apparatus and a microscopic image capturing method for obtaining a captured image, satisfactory for in appearance, by performing proper shading correction corresponding to a shading characteristic realized by an optical system. SOLUTION: In a correction data storage unit 35 of a digital camera 12 which captures a microscopic image, image data of a light image without sample, image data obtained by using a filter for removing a defective portion for the light image without sample, image data where a region without being corrected (or a region being corrected) is set in a portion of the light image without sample, and shading correction data calculated from image data obtained by setting a mask region, where data after being corrected is set to "0" are stored, respectively. An operator obtains, captures, records, and stores an observation image satisfactory in appearance by using arbitrary shading correction data, while observing a light image with a sample of a shading correction result and changing the shading correction data, by arbitrarily inputting correction data for correcting the shading correction data, maximum value limiting data of the shading correction data and partial gain designating data of the shading correction data.
