TRANSMISSION OF MULTICAST TRAFFIC IN A COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK

The network equipment comprising unicast routing means (OSPF, RIP, PR) and multicast routing means (PIM-SM) is characterised in that said unicast routing means are able to be associated with routes (R1) added to a database of routes. A flag (F1) displaying whether or not the route can support the multicast traffic contained in routing information and multicast routing means are provided in order to select the best route only among the routes associated to the flag displaying that it can support a multicast traffic.
