PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of obtaining a superconducting coil having good superconduction characteristics which uniformly heat treats the coil in its manufacturing process to reduce the heat treating ununiformity on the outer and inner surfaces of the coil, and prevents a gas produced in the heat treatment from depositing on a wire material. SOLUTION: The superconducting coil manufacturing method heats the coil composed of a wire material covered with a fiber material containing a binder by a heater and then gradually cools to heat treat it under an inert gas flow or in vacuum. In the heat treatment, the heater is controlled so that its temperature rise rate may not exceed 65°C/h, and a heating section of the heater temperature at 400-500°C is at least 5 hours, and, in a step of gradually cooling the heated coil, the mean temperature lowering rate (°C/h) of the heater temperature in its heating section from the superconducting crystal growth completion temperature to 300°C is 3.8/D or lower where D is the thickness (m) of the winding of the coil.
