PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a direction changing device 11 that can easily perform direction change with two-speed control, can accurately turn and convey an article 13, and can easily turn to many kinds of articles 13. SOLUTION: The speed of one conveyor train 18a of a conveying conveyor 17 is changed and controlled to a first conveyance speed, the speed of the other conveyor train 18b is changed and controlled to a second conveyance speed, and the article 13 is turned by the speed difference. The direction changing device monitors that the article 13 reaches a direction change finishing area A8 set by a setting means while detecting the conveyance direction position of the article 13 with a detecting means. When the article 13 reaches the direction change finishing area A8, two conveyor trains 18a and 18b are switched to uniform control, and the article 13 is conveyed in the direction after the direction change. The direction change can be easily performed by two-speed control, namely the first conveyance speed and the second conveyance speed, the article 13 can be accurately turned by finding the direction change finishing areas A1 to A9 for each kind, and many kinds of articles 13 can be easily turned.
