PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a storage controller for controlling access to the physical device of a host, to surely prevent the deterioration of the processing performance of a system by detecting the data transfer status in a mode which is different from a basic mode as transfer mode abnormality and solving the abnormality. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a deciding means 141 for deciding the matching of a basic mode preliminarily decided from two or more kinds of modes and a mode set by a mode-setting sequence to be executed in reset or inter-module data transfer and a notifying means 14 for, when it is decided nonmatching is decided by the deciding means 141, deciding that transfer mode abnormality has been generated, and for notifying an error.
