PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of predicting a service life of a plastic optical fiber at a usual using temperature in a short time. SOLUTION: In this method of predicting the service life of the plastic optical fiber, accelerated tests are executed at three kinds or more of testing temperatures in the same kind of the plastic optical fibers, a transmission spectrum data is acquired in every prescribed test time in each of the plastic optical fibers used in the every prescribed test time to be analyzed based on the acquired transmission spectrum data, and the life of the plastic optical fiber under a practical using environment is predicted thereby.
