PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silicon-containing composition which forms a coating film exhibiting antifogging properties (antifogging property, water droplet preventing property) in addition to a stain resistance property and a contaminant-removing property. SOLUTION: The silicon-containing composition comprises a reaction product obtained by causing 100 pts.wt., in terms of SiO<SB>2</SB>, of an organosilicate as a component A, 0.1-10 pts.wt. of a catalyst as a component B, 100-50,000 pts.wt. of water as a component C and 100-50,000 pts.wt. of a solvent as a component D to react, and 10-1,000 pts.wt., in terms of SiO<SB>2</SB>, of colloidal silica as a component E.
