AUTHENTICATING ACCESS TO A WIRELESS LOCAL AREA NETWORK BASED ON SECURITY VALUE(S) ASSOCIATED WITH A CELLULAR SYSTEM

A method for authenticating accesses to a wireless local area network is provided to enhance efficiency of the authentication process by using security values associated with a cellular system. A private key for a first network(105) is determined based on at least one security value. The security value is associated with a second network(110). A plurality of sessions are established between a mobile terminal(102) and the first network based on the private key. The first network is a cellular network and the second network is a wireless local area network. The private key is determined based on a shared secret data key which is associated with the cellular network.
