PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and optionally control the reproducing quality of content for trial viewing and listening without preparing content encoding data different from conventional content encoding data for trial viewing and listening when content encoding data is decoded to reproduce content. SOLUTION: Compressed and encoded music data and control information are transmitted from a distribution server 3 to a music recording/reproducing device 10. The music recording/reproducing device 10 records the compressed and encoded music data on an HDD12, then reads the data from the HDD12, and decompresses and decodes the data by a decoder 22 to reproduce music. In this case, the decompression and decoding by the decoder 22 are controlled by the control of a main controller 11 based on the control information, and the reproducing zone of the music is limited. When a user goes through the procedure of listening and buying the music, the distribution server 3 transmits the information of releasing the zone limit by the control information to the music recording/reproducing device 10.
