PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus provided with an image data input/output control means for preventing, as far as possible, deterioration of productivity even in an apparatus unable to mount a large capacity memory therein because of its cost or the like. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is capable of performing different types of image editing processing for an external image data inputted from external equipment such as a scanner 42 and an internal image data inputted from the inside by sharing a primary storage device 31 and a secondary storage device 29. The image forming apparatus is provided with: an execution processing function for queuing and executing a plurality of types of accepted image data input processing into a one-dimensional queue in the order of request reception; an input processing state management function for managing the state of processing under execution at present; and a control means 25 having a data processing selection function for selecting the image input data processing to be subsequently executed out of the one-dimensional queue by employing a specific image ID set to the parameter of the input processing executed lastly as a judgment condition.
