PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drum type washing machine, when a rotating drum is inclined in a water tub for improving the workability, suppressing the occurrence of inferior drainage caused by the counterflow of bubble water after the washing. SOLUTION: This washing machine is formed with a drain ditch 10 in the lower part of the water tub 3 incorporating the rotating drum 2 in the axial direction of the rotating drum 2, the drain ditch 10 is formed with a step so as to gradually increase a downward slope depth, the axial end part of the drain ditch 10 is connected to a drain outlet 36 to suppress the counterflow of the bubble water by the step and the bubble water is quickly drained from the drain outlet 36.
