PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication system for efficiently carrying out relaying of communication among mobile units by using a relay function-attached mobile unit existing in an area where communication relaying between a caller mobile unit and a called mobile unit can be made when direct communication is impossible between the mobile units because they are resident at a secluded place in mountains or the like. SOLUTION: The mobile unit performing relaying stores the information of mobile units which are in a state communication relaying is possible, displays the stored information on the display screen of each of the mobile units performing communication, selects a first relay function-attached mobile unit most suitable for relaying on the basis of the displayed storage information, and performs relay using the first relay function-attached mobile unit. When the state of first relay function-attached mobile unit is not suitable for the relaying, the mobile unit displays the stored information on the display screen of the mobile unit performing communication and selects a second relay function-attached mobile unit most suitable for relaying except the first relay function-attached mobile unit on the basis of the displayed storage information, and they performs relay using the selected second relay function-attached mobile unit.
