An apparatus for manufacturing a cathode-ray tube comprising a plurality of positioning heads (26) each corresponding to one type of cathode-ray tube and used to position a combined set of the shadow mask (13) and mask frame (14) of the type, a rotator (23) supported rotatably and having the plurality of positioning heads (26) arranged along its periphery, a type changing unit (37) for changing for use a positioning head corresponding to the type to be welded by rotating the rotator (23), and a welding unit (41) for welding a shadow mask (13) to a mask frame (14) positioned by the positioning head (26) changed for use by the type changing unit (37).
