<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light guide plate for a surface light emitting device and the surface light emitting device excellent in uniformity. <P>SOLUTION: The light guide plate for a surface light emitting device has a light emitting surface and an incident surface, and light from a light source incident on the incident surface is emitted from the emitting surface. The incident surface has a light incident part composed of a plurality of notched prisms which diffuse light. The distance between adjacent notched prisms at the outside is made different from that at the inside.
