PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composition for a tire tread which possesses wet braking properties, low rolling resistance, low temperature durability, and high abrasion resistance at the same time. SOLUTION: The rubber composition comprises 100 pts. wt. diene rubber component comprising 50-80 pts. wt. solution polymerization styrene-butadiene copolymer rubber having a weight average molecular weight of 1,000,000-1,500,000 and a styrene content of 30-40 wt.% and 10-30 pts. wt. butadiene rubber and silica, and the amount B (pts. wt.), based on 100 pts.wt. the diene rubber component, of the butadiene rubber compounded and the amount S (pts. wt.), based on 100 pts. wt. the diene rubber component, of the silica compounded meet the relationship: 1.5×B+15≤S≤80.
