<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide graphite powder having high orientation property and keeping various kinds of characteristics possessed by graphite, and to provide a method for manufacturing the graphite powder by only temperature processes. <P>SOLUTION: The graphite powder is produced from a sheet type carbon polymer such as polyimide as a starting material and by only temperature processes of calcining the starting material in a specified atmosphere according to a specified temperature profile. Specifically, the powder is produced in the steps of: preparing a sheet of the aromatic polymer such as polyimide; preliminarily calcining the sheet at a specified temperature selected from the temperature ranges of 1,000°C to 1,400°C; and again increasing the temperature from normal temperature and calcining the material at a specified temperature of ≥2,500°C. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
