<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To directly clone a new DNA containing a region encoding a protein from a cDNA library derived from a human adult amygdaloid body, a hippocampus and the human fetal whole brain, to determine the base sequence thereof and to identify functions thereof. <P>SOLUTION: The DNA comprises a base sequence encoding the following polypeptide (a) or (b): (a) a polypeptide composed of an amino acid sequence which is the same or substantially the same as a specific amino acid sequence derived from humans and (b) a polypeptide composed of an amino acid sequence in which a part of amino acids are deleted, substituted or added in the specific amino acid sequence derived from the humans and having substantially the same biological activity as the function of the polypeptide (a).
